Brits 'should learn more about financial services'

Individuals hoping to get the most out of their money should take the time to learn more about the different financial services that are on offer in the UK.

According to a spokesman from Family Investments, Brits should seek independent advice on their savings and borrowings in order to get the best results possible.

The representative commented: "For the most part, children's savings products like the Child Trust Fund and its successor the Junior ISA, are relatively straightforward and most parents will find that a little background research will put them in a good position to make a decision."

Meanwhile, David Fox of The Word Centre recently called on lenders to provide clearer information to borrowers in regards to the amount of interest they are charged on things like credit cards.

He called for greater transparency at the point of sale for financial products, while consumers also need to understand that there is more to comparing credit card deals than looking at the typical APR of deals.
