Profits 'can be made through socially-responsible investment'

Individuals hoping to save towards their retirement have been advised that investing in socially-responsible finance vehicles can be a great way to boost profits over the coming years.

Robert Hague, portfolio manager at Emerald Knight, said ethical savings is a growing area that more people are focusing on, with helping the planet and making money going hand in hand for many investors at present.

He commented: "It is aligning your financial objectives with your personal beliefs regarding the environmental, social and ethical concerns."

Mr Hague added the returns demonstrated by these ethical investment vehicles have been very good in recent years, as many of the sectors focused on by these investments are continuing to show positive signs of growth despite the financial downturn.

Meanwhile, a spokesman from Family Investments recently argued that people should learn more about the many savings and investment options that are open to them in the present economic environment.
