Santander announces new offers for customers

Santander has announced the launch of a number of new offers which it hopes will entice customers to bank with them.

The group has unveiled a range of new measures aimed at making banking more affordable and straightforward for people, with new text and email services being offered to help people manage their finances.

Furthermore, customers are not to be charged on overdrafts of less than £12, while they will also be offered a "grace period" each day to restore their balance to prearranged levels if they go overdrawn, without incurring penalties.

"We are committed to helping our customers manage their finances more closely and the clear and transparent changes we are making demonstrate this," commented Liz Chang, director of banking at Santander.

Earlier this month, research carried out by the bank revealed that the value of credit card transaction for Brits over the last 12 months was actually four per cent lower than in 2010. However, the overall number of transactions which took place in the year were higher.
