Contactless payment 'is secure and convenient'

Anyone spending less than £15 in a transaction has been advised that contactless payments are a fast, secure and convenient method for making a payment.

Mark Bowerman, a spokesman for the UK Cards Association, said 19.6 million cards have now been issued by banks offering contactless payments and there are approximately 73,000 contactless terminals now installed in shops across the country.

As a result, it is now easier than ever to make this type of payment, with buyers understanding that it is a secure method for making a transaction.

He commented: "There is a limit for each contactless transaction of £15 and on top of this, every few contactless transactions, a PIN is required to authorise the transaction."

Meanwhile, Phil Perry, director at Ark Financial Planning, recently argued that the introduction of modern financial resources such as internet access and 24-hour banking have helped to create a generation of financially savvy individuals, who are better at managing their money than previous generations.
