Abbey guaranteed income bond re-launched

Abbey has re-launched its Guaranteed Income Bond (GIB) following two sell-out issues already in 2005.

Customers who purchase the bond are guaranteed an income of 3.6 per cent per annum net, as well as a full return of the capital after the full term of the investment.

Pak Chan, head of investments marketing at Abbey, said: "With interest rates having fallen and the potential for them to fall further, the Guaranteed Income Bond gives people the opportunity to secure a fixed income for the next four years."

He added that the GIB is particularly useful for retired people looking to see some returns for their savings.
