Signs of cooling for UK service sector growth

LONDON, UK - The performance of the UK's highly important services sector cooled slightly according to industry reports, although companies remain upbeat about prospects for the year ahead.

The monthly report on the sector from the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply fell to 58.5, down from a six-and-a-half month high of 59.6 in November, according to BBC Online.

Despite the latest figures representing the lowest reading since August, UK business confidence continued to gain ground.

Sentiment was improved by the recent upturn in the economy, together with plans to boost marketing efforts.
