M&S Money looks at British spending habits

As Marks & Spencer (M&S) Money celebrates its 20th anniversary, it has conducted a survey into how Britons' credit card spending habits have changed.

It reveals that nowadays, one in three people use their card to purchase everyday low-cost items such as a magazine or a cup of coffee, with spending as little as £3 in one transaction.

However, some one in ten people said they found it easier to keep track of their expenditure when using a credit card, as cash was "too easy to spend".

David MacKay, commercial director at M&S Money, said: "Consumers are clearly more card-savvy today and are comfortable using plastic for small as well as large purchases."

For those looking for a new card, the &MORE Credit Card from M&S Money is offering customers a free entry into a prize draw to win a round-the-world trip every time they make a purchase before December 24th.

The &MORE Credit Card from M&S Money comes with a typical annual percentage rate (APR) of 15.9 per cent variable.
