Christmas launch for esure Pet Plus insurance

An esure Pet Plus insurance product has been launched, catering for those who wish to give their four-legged friends a more durable gift for Christmas.

The new insurance product offers £6,500 for veterinary treatment and hits the market in tandem with an esure pet insurance policy that offers £2,500 worth of cover.

New research released by the company shows that one in ten dog owners are happy to spend over £30 on their pet this Christmas, but only four per cent of owners will give their pet health cover.

Jacky Brown, head of esure Pet Plus and pet insurance, said: "Instead of a squeaky snowman bone or novelty jingle bell collar that will be used a few times and put away to gather dust for the rest of the year, a more worthwhile stocking filler for a beloved pooch or moggie this Christmas would be pet insurance."

Monthly premiums start at £3,50, "on a par with the cost of a novelty squeaky Christmas Doggy Pudding toy and a couple of pet mince pies" according to the company.
