Party organisers think they will spend an average of £197.82 on getting their new year's celebration together and expect a £78.40 clean-up bill afterwards, the bank said.
However, party throwers could end up shelling out more than expected if they are not careful, as the research shows that one in five hosts had to buy new glasses or crockery and 14 per cent had to replace or clean their flooring afterwards.
To Barclays, home insurance cover is important and the bank advises customers to keep theirs up to date.
Adrian Grace, managing director of Barclays Insurance Services, said: "By double-checking exactly what their home insurance covers them for and updating their contents insurance with any major Christmas gifts such as TVs, ornaments or jewellery, party hosts can relax and have a good time."
Among party-goers, one in ten said they would own up to breaking something but would not expect to pay for it.
