Tesco Home Insurance promise to consumers

"The days of estimating your home's rebuild cost on insurance applications are over," Tesco Home Insurance said today as it launched a promise to provide up to £350,000 of cover.

The Tesco Home Promise cover comes at no extra cost and is a direct response to consumer research, the insurer said.

According to the research, four out of five homeowners do not know the rebuild value of their home and need to rely on estimates when filling in application forms.

Allan Burns, head of insurance, said that Tesco Home Insurance wants to make it "simpler and easier for customers".

He added that the insurer also wants customers to feel safe about being adequately insured if the worst happens.

The Tesco Home Insurance promise means that homeowners will pay no more for the additional cover since their premium will be calculated on system value from the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.
