Nationwide savings accounts get new rates

New and existing customers holding a Nationwide savings account will see changes to rates from today.

All accounts, except those designed for children, Monthly Income 65+, InvestDirect and 60 Day Direct, will see their rates reduced by between 0.05 per cent and 0.2 per cent.

Nationwide has made the decision to implement these changes after "other providers have unilaterally reduced their rates".

It went on to say that a number of Nationwide savings accounts have rate guarantees, which are there to reassure savers.

The building society concluded by saying that its "savings rates remain some of the best available on the high street".
