Alliance & Leicester International Euro Savings account changed

The Alliance & Leicester International Euro Savings account has seen rate adjustments.

All customers with a balance of €5,000 or more will have the interest level on their account increased from 2.05 per cent to 2.4 per cent.

ALIL has said that this move is in response to the European Central Bank's increase in official rate to 2.25 per cent.

Alterations were also made in the company's US Dollar Savings account, with all balance tiers seeing a rate rise to 4.25 per cent.

The bank now claims that it offers the most competitive rates on the market – the euro account closest to ALIL's in interest rate is Nationwide International's with a level of 2.3 per cent.

Managing director of ALIL Simon Hull said : "Alliance & Leicester International is committed to providing offshore savers with a choice of currency accounts paying competitive interest rates – new and existing customers will certainly welcome these rises."

The changes in the Alliance & Leicester Euro Savings account and US Dollar Savings account will take effect immediately.
