Sainsbury's Bank Travel Money Service launched

A new Sainsbury's Bank Travel Money Service has been introduced today with a promotion offering customers American Express Travellers Cheque Cards for free.

This service would normally charge a fee of £20.

The bank claims that its new service offers next-day delivery of foreign currency and traveller's cheques, which will be commission free and can be ordered up to a level of £3,000.

A similar value is allowed on the American Express Travellers Cheque Card.

Karen Preston, the bank's travel insurance manager, said that the traveller's cheque card offered with the Sainsbury's Bank Travel Money Service combined "the convenience of a payment card with the security of travellers cheques".

As the bank announced its new offer it also warned customers of the differences in travel money services discovered research from financial website Moneyfacts.

Sainsbury's advised that travellers should look around to find a deal that will offer them a benefit in terms of exchange rates and also a broad and inclusive service.

According to the Moneyfacts data, 54 per cent of financial services do not allow order of currency or travellers cheques over the internet and 35 per cent do not offer home delivery of either of these commodities.

Details regarding the Sainsbury's Bank Travel Money Service can be found on the bank's website.
