New Alliance & Leicester International US Dollar 30 account launched

A new Alliance & Leicester International US Dollar 30 account has been introduced today, with a 4.8 per cent gross interest rate for balances up to $99,999 (£55,898).

For balances of $100,000 and over the account will pay a gross annual equivalent rate of five per cent, with all interest paid on an annual basis on January 31st.

A minimum investment level of $5,000 is required to open the account and a maximum savings level of $1.5 million is permitted.

The product, which can be operated via the internet, fax, post and telephone, requires 30 days' notice for withdrawals, although earlier access is allowed, subject to 30 days' loss of interest on the amount taken out.

"The new US Dollar 30 account offers a better return for those customers who are able to give notice before making a withdrawal," said Simon Hull, managing director of Alliance & Leicester International.

"Feedback from our expanding customer base and the success of our existing notice accounts makes us confident that this account will prove to be very popular."

According to the company, the Alliance & Leicester US Dollar 30 account offers a higher interest rate than equivalent products from the Standard Bank, Anglo Irish and Bradford & Bingley International.
