Lloyds TSB Scotland Islamic Account launched

All across Scotland, Muslims will now have access to current accounts that comply with Islamic law.
Gaining interest is forbidden according to Islamic Shariah law and the Lloyds TSB Scotland Islamic Account has been specially tailored to accommodate these beliefs.
The new current account offers no interest or overdraft facilities, for Muslims many of whom currently opt out of traditional banking altogether.
Paul Sherrin, Lloyds TSB head of Islamic financial services, said: "Scotland is home to a significant Muslim community, but many have found that their financial needs have been left wanting."
Another Lloyds TSB Scotland Islamic Account is expected to be launched later in the year, which will cater for the financial needs of Islamic students.
There are currently around two million Muslims in the UK.
