Sainsbury's Bank Travel Insurance: Millions of Brits go on holiday uninsured

As many as one in 12 summer holidays will be made by uninsured Brits this year, according to new research released by Sainsbury's Bank Travel Insurance.

The results of a survey by Sainsbury's Bank Travel Insurance found that £4.19 billion worth of summer holidays taken by Brits will not be covered by travel insurance.

It is thought that around £2 billion pounds worth of personal belongings will also be going uninsured.

As a result Sainsbury's Bank Travel Insurance has warned that new government EHIC form like the E111 before it is not an insurance policy and only provides emergency medical care for Brits abroad.

Robert O'May, Sainsbury's Bank Travel Insurance manager, said: "It's staggering that despite quality travel insurance such as ours, some 2.61 million people will risk losing a fortune this year by having no cover."

Sainbury's Bank offers a number of financial products including savings accounts, insurance policies and credit cards.
