Moneyfacts: New Halifax High Interest Current Account set to cause a stir

The new Halifax High Interest Current Account will "certainly cause a stir" in the current account market, that is the verdict a financial analyst for Moneyfacts, the personal finance information website.

Paying out five per cent gross on account balances over £2,500 the new Halifax High Interest Current Account has gone straight to the top of Moneyfacts' best-buy charts.

Halifax's latest current account product was said to have the edge over rival accounts because unlike others the high interest rate is a permanent feature.

Andy Britchford, financial analyst at Moneyfacts, commented: "When choosing the most suitable account, it is worth checking out the full account features and terms, especially if you are someone who may wish to make use of an overdraft facility."

The Halifax High Interest Current Account was launched this week and was accompanied by an advertising campaign featuring the song "nu-flow" a hit for Big Bruvas in 2002.
