High rates to be offered on the new Abbey Guaranteed Income Bond

A new guaranteed investment bond offering "highest ever" rates has been launched by Abbey.

The new Abbey Guaranteed Income Bond offers protection of capital on maturity and income over a four year period while guaranteeing a fixed income of 4.2 per cent per annum.

Income payments can be made on a monthly, quarterly or annual basis.

Minimum investment in the product is £5,000 and the closing date for applications is August 8th this year, providing they are not all sold before that time.

Pak Chan, Abbey's head of marketing for long term savings, said, "The Guaranteed Income Bond has been a highly popular investment for Abbey so we are particularly pleased to now offer people the highest rate ever.

"We expect the bond to appeal to people looking for capital security at maturity and the certainty of a regular income for the next four years."

Abbey also offer current account, loan and credit card products.
