Halifax Travel Insurance issues safe holiday warning

New research has found that Brits on holiday abroad have a total of 2.7 million worth of items stolen, which has prompted a safe holiday warning from Halifax Travel Insurance.

Over half of all items stolen could not be claimed back from an insurance policy and Halifax has advised that holidaymakers make use of a safe if they have the opportunity.

Halifax Travel Insurance also recommends that people ensure that their travel insurance policy covers the full value of items being taken away on holiday.

Paul Birkhead from Halifax Travel Insurance said: "Single item and upper limits apply to travel insurance policies and holidaymakers need to do their research.

"Indeed some 3.9 million holidaymakers have had a theft claim refused because the items weren't covered by the policy."

Travel insurance policies can be purchased form Halifax to cover multi-trip, single trip or what the company calls "world explorer" trips.
