Norwich Union Insurance issues advice over arson attacks

Businesses are particularly at risk from arson attacks during the summer months, Norwich Union Insurance has warned.

The company is hoping to raise awareness of the problem which last year resulted in £220 million pounds worth of disruption to businesses, according to the Association of British Insurers.

Among the major causes of arson problems among British companies is waste being stored outside a property, in reach of "bored" school children, who are often involved such incidents.

Paul Redington, property claims manager at Norwich Union, said: "We want to raise awareness of this problem and ensure that businesses."

"We have seen devastating fire damage due to unsecured bins being pushed against buildings and the contents ignited causing the fire to spread," he added.

Norwich Union is the UK's largest general insurer and currently offers a ten per cent discount on car insurance when policies are applied for online.
