The new branch in Queen Street is Nationwide's largest branch, combining the two former Cardiff branches into one and giving the building society a greater presence in the city centre.
According to Nationwide the new branch's open plan design encourages a greater degree of personal contact between advisors and customers. It also has an interactive floor which displays information on products and services and changes its message as customers step across it.
A suite of private and open meeting rooms is available for account openings, mortgage and financial review meetings, and self-service banking tills and internet banking terminals are also on hand for customers who like to carry out transactions themselves.
Brain Trubey, senior branch manager at the new flagship branch, said: "The team and I are really excited about the new flagship branch. We are looking forward to welcoming both new and existing members to the branch, and hope that they are able to pop in and experience some of the fantastic new services we have on offer.
"As well as the new technologies and design concepts incorporated in the branch, we have extended our opening hours to help make it easier for members to access our services."
