Nationwide in charity credit card move

To Nationwide, charity is no joke.

The credit company has upped the amount it will donate to Comic Relief on first use of its Comic Relief credit card.

From September 1st, for every Nationwide Comic Relief credit card opened and in use, Nationwide will donate £6 to charity.

The amount is an increase of 2.6 per cent on previous years' donations.

Existing cardholders also have the benefit of knowing that Nationwide will continue to give 0.5 per cent of the value of all purchases made on the card to the charity.

Since its launch in 2002, Nationwide has donated over £500,000 to Comic Relief, a charity that helps the poor and disadvantaged people in the UK and Africa turn their lives around.

Beyond being charitable, Nationwide also claims that its customers have the advantage of no currency conversion or other hidden fees, no annual fees, up to 56 days interest free credit and free purchase protection for most goods over £50 on the Comic Relief card, making the card charitable to everyone involved.
