Sainsbury's Bank Car Insurance offers "rare" car seat feature

On the first day of new child car seat legislation in the UK, Sainsbury's Bank Car Insurance has highlighted the importance of ensuring these booster seats are included in insurance policies.

The bank claims it is one of the few insurance providers to offer a "new for old" child car seat replacement after an accident as a standard feature of its Sainsbury's Bank Car Insurance policies.

Drivers are being urged to ensure the child car seats in their vehicles meet the necessary safety standards.

Sainsbury's Bank Car Insurance advises parents against buying second-hand booster seats, as these may have hidden faults in their mechanisms.

"If using a hand-me-down, parents should ensure they know the seat's history and never use it if it has been previously involved in a collision," says Sainsbury's Bank Car Insurance manager Richard Clark.

"We strongly advise against purchasing second hand seats as it's impossible to know their history."

Mr Clark says this is why all Sainsbury's Bank Car Insurance comprehensive policies include a "new for old" replacement clause.
