Leeds drivers 'worst in UK' says Direct Line Insurance

Leeds has the least considerate drivers on the UK roads, says a new report from Direct Line Insurance.

The research indicates that 37 per cent of the country's motorists have been careless behind the wheel.

Most frequent offences include failure to indicate when changing lanes, but close to a fifth of drivers don't even slow down for pedestrian crossings.

Emma Holyer, motor spokesperson for Direct Line Insurance, commented: "Careless driving is a major cause of accidents and aside from the increased risk of causing a crash, a careless driving offence carries severe penalties."

She added: "We are reminding motorists to take care, keep their full concentration on their driving and brush up on the rules as detailed in the Highway Code."

Norwich apparently has the most considerate drivers in the UK, while Birmingham holds the record for drivers using mobile phones while on the roads.
