Post Office credit card free to use abroad

The Post Office credit card now offers customers a better deal when using the card abroad due to the removal of commission charges.

Other features of the Post Office credit card include an extension of the interest free period on balance transfers to eight months as well as zero interest on purchases for the first three months.

Gary Fitton, head of the Post Office credit card, underlined people's aggravation when forced to pay interest charges on purchases abroad and remarked that this had a bearing on the company's decision making.

Mr Fitton stated: "Most credit cards charge 2.75 per cent on every transaction made overseas. People become frustrated when they see it is costing them more to use their credit card abroad."

He continued: "We have listened to this and we have acted. Now our customers have got one of the best deals going."

As well as in Post Office stores and by phone, the card can be ordered online on the Post Office's website and can be received in under a week. A balance transfer fee of 2.5 per cent applies to the Post Office credit card.
