Nationwide mortgages achieve platinum rating

A platinum rating has been awarded to Nationwide building society's mortgages at the LEX awards and is the only high street lender to have achieved such a feat.

Representing a partnership between consumer research consultancy firm, Capital Blue and Lending Strategy magazine, the LEX awards are designed to provide an indication to customers about effective mortgage practice rather than just the intricacies of a product offered.

A survey involving 7,800 respondents was utilised in order to ascertain the best mortgage lenders in the UK and people were encouraged to gauge a lender's success on the level of customer service received and overall satisfaction provided.

"We are delighted to be the only high street lender to have been awarded the platinum rating for our mortgage products and service in the new LEX Awards," stated Stuart Bernau, Nationwide's executive director.

He concluded: "This is confirmation of how competitive our mortgages are within the market, directly from the people that matter the most - consumers."

Nationwide offers a range of products, encompassing fixed-rate, variable and tracker mortgages. The building society says there are no hidden charges or fees and customers can take advantage of three months free mortgage payment protection insurance.
