Location affects the car you drive

The make of car that a person drives is determined in the main by the location that they live in, says AA Personal Loans.

Those that dwell in the city are more likely to drive a new car with "sex appeal", which means a vehicle that travels faster than most, looks good and comes equipped with the latest gadgets, with ten per cent looking for a "sexy" new car.

This changes when the motorist lives in the country as only four per cent are looking for a car with "sex appeal", citing safety and fuel economy as key factors in determining the make and model of a new car.

Due to the Mayor of London stepping up his clampdown on so-called gas-guzzlers such as 4x4's by planning the implementation of a top-rate £25 congestion charge in London, 17 per cent of car buyers have said that thinking about environmental issues was a factor when making a purchase.

Car running costs seem to be a bigger priority for country-dwellers with 30 per cent wanting a better fuel economy than their city counterparts with 19 per cent.
