Extra Christmas cover offered by Tesco

Tesco Home Insurance has declared that it is to spread the Christmas cheer in terms of rewarding its customers with the announcement that it will increase contents cover over the festive period.

From December 1st until January 15th, the insurer will raise content cover automatically by ten per cent at a time of year when many people will be busy buying and receiving expensive gifts.

On top of this offer, couples who are tying the knot over Christmas will be offered a ten per cent increase on their wedding contents cover too, for four months before the wedding, as well as after.

Allan Burns, head of Tesco home insurance, remarked: "We would encourage all consumers to take the necessary steps to make their homes secure over the Christmas period."

"They should also check their policy to make sure that in the traumatic event of a burglary, their loss does not become a financially painful one as their cover limits aren't adequate," added Mr Burns.

Tesco Home Insurance currently gives customers a 35 per cent discount in the first year if the policy is taken out online.
