Alliance & Leicester financial education scheme launched

Alliance & Leicester has decided to focus on the issue of managing personal finance by introducing the matter to a younger audience in order to raise awareness.

In conjunction with South Leicestershire Citizens Advice Bureau and Leicestershire Education Business Company, Alliance & Leicester aims to support the education of financial literacy and is hoping to get it on the national curriculum.

The new teaching resource is entitled my money matters and is designed to educate pupils in years ten and 11 on the importance of budgeting as well as attempting to explain credit.

Stuart Dawkins, director of corporate communications at Alliance & Leicester, remarked: "Feedback from the students who have taken the course so far has been very good, (delete) and we are delighted to be working with South Leicestershire Citizens Advice Bureau and Lutterworth Grammar school on this important project."

Alliance & Leicester my money matters teaching packs will be supplied to participating schools and to launch the programme, lessons are being delivered by the bank's staff at a range of school's in Leicestershire.

Real-life situations are provided in the Alliance & Leicester my money matters initiative so students can gain a better understanding of scenarios that will affect them in the future.
