Halifax Ultimate Reward Current Account to begin

The new Halifax Ultimate Reward Current Account will be introduced to the market from February 19th, with the bank claiming the product to be "the best value packaged current account from a major High Street Bank".

A rate of six per cent gross is offered on the account - equating to 6.17 per cent AER - and the benefits available on the product add up to a collective total of more than £800.

Should an individual decide to switch their bank account to the Halifax Ultimate Reward Current Account, they will gain a bonus payment of £100 for doing so, if switching before March 23rd.

Paul Marriott-Clarke, head of banking for Halifax, commented: "Ultimate Reward offers better interest, better benefits and more reason to switch for less than other banks charge. If the great value wasn't enough to make you switch, we're also giving switchers a £100 welcome payment."

As well as the six per cent interest rate, the Halifax Ultimate Reward Current Account also comes with an interest free overdraft of £300 and there is no stipulated minimum amount to be paid in per month.

Among the perks of setting up the account are RAC breakdown cover and Family Worldwide Multi-trip Travel Insurance that covers both golf and winter sports.
