According to Kevin Carr, head of life protection at LifeSearch, income protection was a notoriously difficult product to sell as customers "often shy away from the perceived cost and complexity of products".
The group was praised for various features of its service, including its service standard, underwriting and price.
"Liverpool Victoria has continued to meet the challenge head on by making sure customers' needs are on the top of their agenda. They have continued to offer simple and easy to understand products which are fantastic value for money," Mr Carr said.
The group, the UK's largest friendly society, beat off competition from Pioneer and Friends Provident to win the award.
