Currently possessing a rate of 5.60 per cent, the Alliance & Leicester account will revert to no more than 0.25 per cent below the base rate.
Available to those people depositing a minimum balance of £15,000, the account also has the flexibility of allowing one penalty-free sterling withdrawal each quarter.
Interest is paid annually on the Alliance & Leicester account, a package which Simon Hull, managing director of the group, said continued to be "exceptionally well received".
He added: "The rate offered on our latest issue is highly competitive and will appeal to serious savers seeking certainty over their rate of interest, in the form of a link to the base rate."
He also said the account would give peace of mind to those people who needed to access the account in an emergency.
