Massive jackpots for Euro lottery

Tickets for a European-wide lottery will go on sale this weekend.

The EuroMillions Lottery will see jackpots and huge rollovers, which could reach £50 million or more, being paid out to players.

The new game is described by UK lottery company Camelot as its "most ambitious game since the launch of the National Lottery" 10 years ago.

Tickets for the European lottery will cost £1.50 in the UK and offer a greater range of prizes than existing games

The lottery will be run in partnership between the National Lottery operator, Camelot, La Francaise des Jeux in France and Loterias y Apuestas del Estado in Spain. More countries could join next year.

Tickets will go on sale this Saturday and the draw will take place every Friday evening, starting on February 13th.

The draw will be screened on Sky Television, making it the first National Lottery draw broadcast on a commercial station rather than the BBC.

The starting jackpot is estimated at £10 million and Camelot says the average is likely to be around £14 million.

Camelot announced yesterday that sales of lottery tickets have increased for the longest period in four years.

Latest figures show that 3.4 million tickets were sold between April 1st and December 28th.
