Abbey mortgage rates 'reduced'

Until June 23rd, savvy consumers will be able to pick up Abbey two-year tracker and fixed-rate mortgages for 5.76 and 6.04 per cent respectively.
The group has also altered rates on its five-year fixed-rate mortgage to 6.02 per cent, a package which has been available since April 23rd.
The Abbey mortgage covers all the extra costs usually associated with the mortgage process, with the group estimating that legal fees for the average property purchase amount to over £2,000 in upfront costs.
Nici Audhlam-Gardiner, head of mortgages at Abbey, said that in an environment where many dealers were increasing rates, "today's rate cuts on this range make it extremely competitive".
She added: "With no booking fee, no valuation fee and no legal fees, these products offer exceptional value to any mover and cannot be matched."
The group has also launched a new three year-fixed-rate deal, with the Abbey mortgage possessing a rate of 5.49 per cent.
