Police charge card-binge youth

The 17-year-old from Homerton will appear on bail at Thames Youth Court on February 17, Scotland Yard said.

He is accused of dishonestly obtaining a limousine hire service, accommodation at a hotel, jewellery and a camcorder.

Seventeen year old Tom Smith, who stole his dad's credit card and went on a £12,000 shopping spree to Rome, has been charged by police.

The card was 'borrowed' from his father John, 49, while he was jogging - who described his son as a 'little s**t.'

The first thing Tom did with the card was book a flight from Stansted to Rome, booking into luxury hotels, travelling in limousines and dishing out thousands of pounds on designer labels over four days.

Mr Smith earns £100,000 as an investment banker

He reportedly spent £1,900 in Versace; £1,800 in Dolce & Gabbana; £800 in Prada; £1,632 for a Louis Vuitton bag; and £163 on Armani glasses.

He then splashed £300 on a limousine tour of Rome and booked into a the five-star, for £340.

Tom came back to the UK booked another limousine from Gatwick, picked up three mates in London, and went to Brighton. Once there they booked two £250-a-night rooms, according to the Sun this morning.

Next day, the teenager picked up a £860 Sony video camera before a limousine took the four home. The limousine hire cost him £1,983.

However the young man was unrepentant: "If Dad had got me these things in the first place I wouldn't have had to steal his card," he said.

When Tom got back home he was forgiven by his parents

He plans to keep the goods.
