Newlyweds should 'check insurance'

With the wedding season set to get into full swing over the summer period, people that have tied the knot are being encouraged to check they have sufficient home insurance cover.

Likely to have been showered with gifts on their special day, newlyweds may need home contents cover details to be amended.

All year round cover is provided by Halifax insurance packages, which means that customers will never find themselves underinsured, even if the value of their home contents suddenly increases.

Senior manager of underwriting for Halifax Home Insurance, Vicky Emmott, said: "Those looking forward to their big day are likely to have a house stacked full of wedding goodies including presents, bride and bridesmaid dresses, new suits and wedding rings."

She added: "Organising a wedding can be great fun, but also very stressful. The last thing people need is to discover they are not adequately insured when it matters most."
