Offset flooding with 'proactive' measures

Following the flooding of areas in many parts of the country this week, Lloyds TSB Insurance is encouraging people who are thinking of making a claim to undertake a number of measures.

With almost 150 flood warnings in place across the country, Lloyds TSB Insurance believes that consumers need to carefully check the contents of their insurance package to ensure they are sufficiently covered.

Keeping insurance documents to hand may also be an important so that they are accessible if required.

Telephoning an insurer as quickly as possible may also be a priority after an event such as flooding takes place as they will be able to register a claim, talk through the claims process and potentially appoint a loss adjuster.

Phil Loney, managing director at Lloyds TSB Insurance, said: "We are contacting customers in the worst affected areas to offer our assistance and we urge other homeowners to contact their insurers as quickly as possible."
