Virgin launches pay-as-you-go-card

Virgin has launched a new pay-as-you-go card which offers a range of discounts on its products.

The Virgin card will allow consumers to load money onto their card as they might do with a mobile phone and then use the cash to shop online or on the high street and to withdraw money from ATMs.

It could be an ideal solution for those consumers who do not want to go into an overdraft or make financial situation simpler for somebody travelling abroad.

Consumers who take on the Virgin card could benefit from ten per cent discounts at the groups, megastore, holidays and home, pet and annual travel insurance.

A discount of 75 per cent will also be available on Virgin Active's joining fee.

Jayne-Anne Gadhia, chief executive of Virgin Money, said: "Almost three million adults in the UK do not use banking facilities and are locked in the cash economy. This card will allow users to buy on the internet, on the high street and save money on a range of Virgin products."
