Post Office travel insurance policies 'reduced'

The Post Office has announced that it will be offering reduced prices for its travel insurance policies over the summer period.

Until August 31st, consumers who buy a Post Office multi-trip policy will enjoy a £10 discount, while single trip packages will be reduced by £5.

The group hopes that its enticing discounts will encourage people to take on an insurance policy, with research showing that almost half of consumers fail to take out a policy when going on holiday.

Londoners are the least likely to take out travel insurance when going on holiday among people in the UK, with northern consumers most likely to have catered for any eventuality.

Head of travel at the Post Office, Kevin McAdam, said: "The amount of people who have admitted to going on holiday with any cover at all is extremely alarming."

He added: "Our figures prove that travel insurance is all too often forgotten in the excitement of getting ready to go on holiday, or even worse, it is considered by some to be non-essential."
