Lloyds TSB Travel Money Card 'could help holidaying kids'

Lloyds TSB has recommended its Travel Money Card to parents whose children might be heading off on holiday this summer.

The bank has revealed that 38 per cent of parents are worried that their children will overspend while away, while 56 per cent of young people share those fears.

Despite concerns over spending and security, 82 per cent of young holidaymakers intend to take cash as their main mode of currency.

Lloyds TSB's Travel Money Card could be a way to assuage these fears, the bank claims, as the pre-paid Visa card can be topped up over the phone and easily replaced and refunded.

"Parents are understandably nervous about picking up the bill for their children's fortnightly holiday excesses," said Philip Robinson, head of debit cards & travel services, Lloyds TSB

"One way to help with budgeting is not to send them away with too much cash - which is a temptation."

Alliance & Leicester recently released a similar pre-paid card that businesses can use to replace retrospective claims for expenses.
