Alliance & Leicester Premier 21 account targets school-leavers

Alliance & Leicester is targeting school leavers with its Premier 21 current account.

New figures released by the bank have revealed that 43 per cent of people aged between 16 and 21 are put off going to university by the prospect of amassing debt.

Furthermore, 54 per cent of that age group who are already in work were attracted to the world of employment by the opportunity to make money sooner rather than later.

Features offered by the Premier 21 account include a best–buy credit interest rate paying ten per cent on all balances of up to £1,000 fixed for at least one year, a minimum overdraft of £250 subject to minimum age of 18 years and credit scoring and a linked PlusSaver account paying 5.25% AER interest rate.

Earlier this month, Alliance & Leicester launched a range of new specialist mortgage deals.
