Car insurance tips offered by esure

Car insurance provider esure has offered tips to eager car lovers awaiting the arrival of the forthcoming 57 registration plate.

The insurer advised buyers to shop around for quotes and speak to their current provider. Also, it claimed the best deals are often found online.

Finding out information such as the car's insurance group and fitting upgrades such as a tracking device can also drive prices down, but the insurer claims that motorists should look for a policy that is suitable as well as cheap.

"Being shrewd and shopping around for the best price, finance and insurance deals could slash hundreds, if not thousands off the cost of driving away in a new 57 plate," said Colin Batabyal, director of underwriting and business development at esure.

Earlier this month, esure suggested that 35 per cent of British drivers are unable to read a roadmap - which could put them in dangerous situations that might increase their premiums.
