Abbey Super Monthly Saver recommended to lottery dreamers

Abbey has recommended its Super Monthly Saver account as a way to generate funds while waiting for that elusive lottery win.

According to the bank, 39 per cent of people would feel financially secure with a windfall of £250,000, while 14 per cent would settle for £50,000.

While the chances of winning such sums remains slim, Reza Attar-Zadeh, head of savings and investments at Abbey, said that its Super Monthly Saver will at least offer a rate of ten per cent on regular savings.

"While you can't rely on a lottery win, with some careful financial planning, you can end up with more disposable income to spend on the things you most enjoy, such as hobbies or traveling," said the expert.

Abbey found that 96 per cent of people would give up their job if they won the lottery.

This week, Angela Kelly of East Kilbride was named as the winner of the UK's largest ever lottery jackpot, worth close to £35.5 million.
