According to Emma Holyer, spokeswoman for the insurer, the process takes "between two and three minutes". With a simple one-page layout for the online form, only one in eight customers have to ring Churchill's UK-based call centres for extra assistance.
Other benefits include the ease which internet brings in terms of comparing prices and around-the-clock booking, while Churchill also offers a ten per cent discount on premiums bought online.
"The website is really easy to use," said Ms Holyer.
"You fill your details in and it's all sent back to you so when your certificate arrives in the post you have to check it yourself and if there are any changes to make you just let us know."
As well as car insurance, Churchill also offers cover for the home, travel, pets, breakdown, vans, motorcycles and income protection.
