Abbey fixed-term bonds launched

Those considering taking out savings bonds might wish to consider four new bonds launched by Abbey today.

The first is its Stepped Rate Bond, guaranteeing a fixed rate from 5.75 per cent over a period of 22 months.

Older savers might be interested in the 50 Plus Bond, which offers a gross annual rate of 6.10 per cent over three years, while those looking to put money aside for their children or grandchildren can benefit from an annual rate of 6.05 per cent on the four-year Children's Savings Bond.

Finally, the Fixed Rate Bond offers a range of fixed rates over a period of one, two or three years for those looking for the security of a secure level of interest.

Abbey revealed last week that almost three in five (58 per cent) of new customers of its Super Isa and Super Bond are female.
