AA Home Insurance highlights house-buying pains

Almost a third (29 per cent) of people who are looking to buy a home admit they have found the process difficult, according to AA Home Insurance.

A survey by the insurer revealed that 11 per cent of house-hunters harbour fears over hidden faults at a property, while seven per cent do not trust their estate agent.

Compounding their worries, 13 per cent of people said that their last home did not provide them with everything they expected.

As such, AA Home Insurance and television's House Doctor Ann Maurice have published a new guide called Getting a Better Deal on Your Home to aid people through the process.

"For most people, buying a home will be the most important purchase they make in their lifetime, so it's really important to get it right and make sure you have no regrets once the contract is signed," said AA Home Insurance head Janet Pell.

Last month, the AA teamed up with expert Giles Chapman to produce the Guide to Getting a Better Deal on Your Car.
