Cornhill Direct finds Brits stash money at home

Many Britons carelessly leave cash secreted away in various locations around their house, a new survey from Cornhill Direct has found.

Overall, there is a total of £4.6 billion in cash in Britain's homes, equating to the average person stashing away at least £127.

And a full eight per cent of those surveyed by Cornhill admitted that they had between £300 and £1,000 in the house.

Mark Bishop, a spokesman for Cornhill Direct, stated: "Our home contents policy provides protection for money kept in the house, but it is never a good idea to keep large sums in the house."

Inexplicably, a full 40 per cent of people think that it makes good sense to store money in one's house.

And 45 per cent opined that because of the recent crisis at Northern Rock, more people will take to stashing money themselves.

Meanwhile, a study by the research group GfK has found that the Northern Rock disaster has shaken the British economy.
