Norwich Union advises ongoing training for new drivers

Even after passing the driving test, younger drivers need to keep on receiving education on road safety, Norwich Union has stated.

As well as helping to keep a young driver safe, post-test courses mean that insurance premiums will be lowered.

The Pass Plus scheme sponsored by the Driving Standards Agency is designed specifically for young drivers who have already passed their test.

A spokesperson for Norwich Union said: "We would recommend ongoing and regular training for new drivers. It can help them with their road safety skills.

"The Pass Plus scheme is one of these schemes. We give a ten per cent discount for people that have taken the Pass Plus scheme. A lot of insurers will be offering some kind of discount."

Pay-as-you-drive schemes are another course of action that younger drivers should consider, added the spokesperson.

Department for Transport figures from March 2007 showed that road casualties were down four per cent.
