Alliance & Leicester savings account for expats

Alliance & Leicester International Limited (ALIL) claims its eSaver Offshore account is the first of its type that allows people to apply completely online.

Simon Hull, managing director of Alliance & Leicester International, said that the account will help expatriates "ensure they set up adequate banking and saving facilities soon after they move".

Research from Alliance & Leicester reveals that 70 per cent of expatriates do not make financial preparations when they first move overseas.

Additionally, it found that 64 per cent think that competitive rates are important in a savings account.

Mr Hull remarked: "The eSaver Offshore is the first offshore savings account to fully harness the power of the internet by offering end-to-end online capability, granting expats access to their finances anytime, anywhere."

He added that the account could be fully functional "within a week" of the expatriate's arrival in their new country.

Recently, Alliance & Leicester International announced that the eSaver Offshore's AER had increased to 6.51 per cent.
