Co-operative mortgage re-launched

Co-operative Bank has announced that it is reintroducing its 25-year fixed-rate mortgage, which it claims has a market-leading rate.

This new Co-operative mortgage has a fixed rate of 5.95 per cent and a £599 application fee.

Additionally, the Co-operative mortgage comes without any higher lending charges and also has no early repayment fee after the first ten years.

John Barker, head of mortgages at Co-operative Financial Services, commented: "This new mortgage will suit customers who are looking for the peace of mind that a longer-term fixed mortgage can offer.

"However, they will not only benefit from an extremely competitive fixed rate, but they will also have the flexibility of a portable product, which will allow them to take their mortgage with them if they want to move."

Last month, Co-operative Bank launched a two-year tracker mortgage with a 5.29 per cent variable rate.
